When I was in primary school, my school will bring me on excursions almost every study term. I would envy my peers who brought a disposable film camera with them to take photos of the trip. I remember asking my parents for one but they would just tick me off.

Digital cameras were expensive so my parents wouldn't let me play around with it. My first experience with a device that can document the world around me is my first iPhone. I remember going around the house, taking photographs of the object around me. I wasn't proud of the photographs but I really enjoyed the process of documenting what's around me.

Today, film photography is slowly on the rise especially among the youths here in Singapore. It is often associated with the skate and underground music subculture.

On the other hand, many photographers celebrate the limitations of film photography. The beauty of film photography lies within its limitations, because digital photography has spoilt the process of photography.

Film is not dead

I grew up in the era where film photography is on the verge of dying and digital were slowly taking over the market. I wasn't lucky enough to get the opportunity to try my hands on film photography.

In my last trip in Kuala Lumpur, I saw an Ilford B&W Disposable Camera. Since I have been hanging out with people who have been playing around with film, I know one or two things about film and I thought it would be a good try opportunity to try.
